Japetus is a multimedia artist who began writing and recording songs in the early 80’s after setting up an analogue 8-track recording studio in his lounge room. With over 30 years experience in so many different areas, Jay, as he is known, holds the overall vision for a project and how all the parts relate together. He also has a vast back catalogue of music to draw on or can create unique jingles, background music or atmos for specific projects. Jay has contributed music commissioned by Michael Ney for numerous projects since 1986. His music is available on iTunes Store.

Between 1981-1983 Jay also worked for 'The AVES Group' running their audio studio, producing multiple projector slide-tape training films for corporate clients and running AVES equipment hire department. He was later commissioned to create theme music, jingles and soundscapes for a variety of their clients including James Hardy, Commonwealth Bank, Pfizer, Homestead Motels, Bottlemart Bottle shops, Mercantile Mutual Insurance and composed music for the original EFTPOS introductory video shown to Australian shops explaining how electronic credit cards would work!

In 1983, he recorded ambient new age ‘Soundspaces’ for meditation, healing and creative visualisation as Japetus - releasing 12 albums. He also produced, recorded and engineered numerous albums for other clients until 2000. Between 1987 and 1994, Jay performed ambient music around Sydney including The Opera House concourse and Darling Harbour. He also performed and exhibited at the Australian 'Mind, Body Spirit' festivals in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

In 1995, Jay was commissioned to create the background music for a 23 episode TV series called 'Yin, Yang & You' broadcast throughout Asia and the Middle East. Over the following 10 years Jay transitioned to a studio in Byron Bay and began digitally remastering his Visionary Journeys catalogue and immersing himself in Apple Mac computers. In 2000, he won 3 local music ‘Dolphin’ awards and another one in 2002.

In 2005, he was signed as a Label Affiliate to Apple iTunes for his ambient music and also began building websites and exploring video production. Sir Arthur C. Clarke

Many thanks for your letter and the tape - I've already given it several listenings and much enjoyed them. Most intriguing! Sorry I changed destinations after 2001. I'll do what I can to promote your work - meanwhile, the best of luck, and again, thanks.

Sir Arthur C. Clarke - Author of '2001: A Space Odyssey'

Harmony with others, being in tune. Fusion is the only way to increase intelligence beyond the scope of your own neurology. Best of luck.

Timothy Leary - Visionary writer

The music of Japetus literally carries me beyond time and space. The haunting melodies convey such beautiful images. I use this music in my seminars with excellent results.
